"Wynn My Heart" Arches

The crossing arches in this photo were designed by Wynn and Lindy Bell to span a 20 foot dance floor. Here the arches are installed with an RMS Puffed Heart at the top in a classroom at the 2003 International Balloon Arts Convention for one of the Bell's classes on wedding decor.

There are four weighted bases with bent EMT pipes rising toward the center of the dance floor. Two aluminum rods pierce the four foot RMS Puffed Heart by passing between balloons and the flexible plastic straps that hold balloons in place. The ends of the rods extend into the open ends of the EMT, and are taped in place at appropriate lengths.

Spiral garands cover the EMT with balloons inflated in sizes that are reduced nearer the top of the arches. This tapering gives a more sophisticated shape and makes the arches appear taller than they would otherwise.

Tulle extends the tapered look and covers the cords for miniature lights that extend all the way to the heart. Lights could be added within the heart as well for a different effect when the house lights are turned down.
