The painting on the left above provided the inspiration for this 9' by 12' balloon art graphic. The painting was one of those selected by Rocky Toomey to decorate the Final Night Gala at the 2002 International Balloon Arts Convention (IBAC) in Chicago, IL, USA.
The event setting was an art gallery complete with eight large balloon "paintings" and a variety of magnificent balloon sculptures as well.
The painting was translated into a balloon design by Graham & Mary Queen Rouse of Rouse International in Columbia SC, USA. The design was assembled and installed by IBAC staff and
volunteers attending the balloon convention with Qualatex balloons and an expandable Rouse Matrix Systems framework.
The "Squares" balloon painting was framed with gold balloons as were all the balloon paintings that graced the walls of the art gallery gala event. Spotlights on the balloon paintings helped them to stand out in the darkened room.
